GOOD MORNING Pretty World! I have a week-old brioche loaf that need to be saved. Perfect scenario for French Toast!
Ingredients necessary:
2 Eggs
1/3 c half and half (or half cream and half milk or just whole milk - and for healthier substitute 2% milk)
2 TB of sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Nutmeg
salt
Stale old bread (brioche or challah or egg bread - could be fresh bread as well)
1-1/2 cups raspberries
1-1/2 cups blueberries
butter for frying
FIRST STEP is to slice your bread about an inch thick. Then combine the first 3 ingredients and beat together well. Add the sugar, vanilla, nutmeg and salt to season and beat in well.
Slit the bread in the center to create a pocket. Stuff with the fruits in the center. Dip in the bowl of egg mixture to absorb the mixture well on both sides and inside. Fry in buttered skillet. |
Serve with additional fresh raspberries and blueberries, warmed syrup and green tea with matcha or individual drip coffee.
Makes for 2 or 4 half servings.
